Ways to use your sheets
For gift wrapping, use double-sided sticky tape or stronger paper tape. Standard sticky tape doesn’t stick well on this paper. The gift wrap can be reused again if the present is opened carefully at the joins. These sheets are extremely popular for art and craft use, origami, bookbinding, and it’s nice to see how versatile the wrapping paper is.
Getting your wrapping paper to you
We can post these papers out to any Mainland UK address within 3 working days. The sheets are all rolled into tubes, not folded. Alternatively, you can book a collection from Borehamwood in Hertfordshire. Our Studio is located inside the M25 and not far from Barnet, Brent and Watford. All collection orders are discounted by 15%. Select the best option that works for you at the checkout.
Gifting whilst giving back
Giving back is so important to us and a small percentage of all profits from sales are donated to Tommy’s the Baby Charity. They fund research into miscarriage, stillbirth, premature birth, and provide pregnancy health information to parents. You can read more about why we donate to this charity on our Rainbow Baby pages.
More about the Maker
Born out of a love for beautiful wrapping and a passion for tradition, Paper Mirchi focuses on creating luxurious artisanal papers. The papers are hand marbled or hand printed by a skilled artisan on to cotton handmade papers. Not one is screen printed or digitally mass-produced and they are recyclable and sustainable.
Every one of these award-winning gift-wrapping papers is made by hand using recycled cotton. The pandemic has changed the world, and we want to play our part in maintaining some positive changes. These eco-friendly wrapping papers are on track to be the future of retail
Cotton rags and textile scraps are chopped, pulped, and dyed and spread over a mesh screen. The cellulose-rich fibres bind to form the paper and the excess water is squeezed out and each sheet is hung out to dry. A calendering machine is then used to smooth out any creases. A large range of gift sheets are created by using 100% tree-free recycled cotton paper.
Every sheet tells a story of its maker and papermaking is an ancient skill in India. The wrapping paper is printed by applying colours to the marbling tray and creating patterns using a wooden stick. Each sheet is then carefully lowered into the tray and the pattern then transfers on to the paper like magic. All final designs are created by using an ancient textile printing process such as hand block printing, tie-dye, batik and hand marbling.
Artisans are passionate about their craft which has been passed down through generations. Regular breaks for ‘chai’ and the background hum of the radio are fuel for their creative expression. They put all that together to bring you plastic free, handmade gift-wrapping paper.
